Beit Yaakov
Garbov is a pure tribute to a classy Tel Aviv’s eclectic architectural style.
It was meticulously designed by one of the most prominent Israeli architects of
the XX century – Yosef Minor, who is known to this day mainly thanks to the
Bialik House that he designed in 1924.
The
building was erected in 1924 by Mordechai Garbov, to commemorate his father′s
name - Jacob. Mordechai Garbov, a famous businessman of that time. Beit Yaakov
Garbov was designed in a completely symmetrical way and it’s a part of a local preservation
program. In the file for the preservation of the building, the architect of
record Anna Shipman wrote, and I quote - "From an urban point of view, the
building is part of the urban tissue that tells the history of Tel Aviv. From
an architectural and historical point of view, it is a building by an important
architect, not many buildings designed by him have been preserved in
Israel."
