Chalet renovated in the historic center of Sintra
Charming completely renovated chalet located in the historic center of the town of Sintra with the romantic lines typical of Sintra′s architecture. The house was built in 1889 by Mr. Possidónio de Castro, a monarchist who accompanied King D. Carlos′ carriage on horseback. It later belonged to his daughter, married to Dr. Eduardo Leitão, Portuguese ambassador to Belgium for many years.
The chalet has all the characteristics of noble houses of the time: high ceilings, plaster ceilings with moldings and wainscoting, a hipped roof and wooden plank floors. Outside, all windows and doors are new, in wood with double glazing, maintaining the original cut stonework.
The building has four floors, the first being the social area, with a large lounge with two doors with direct access to the garden, library and dining room. The kitchen, on the same floor, also with access to the garden, is fully equipped. On the second floor we have a large suite with a walking closet and on the third floor two other suites. All rooms have views of the mountains and the town of Sintra, with views of the sea. In the basement we have a cinema room, a bedroom or living room with access to the garden, a bathroom and a cellar. The cinema room can be transformed into another suite for guests.
The house has an old central staircase for interior connection to the floors.
The house has a south-facing garden with complete privacy from the street.
It is a five-minute walk from the Palácio da Vila de Sintra, 10 minutes from the train station, a 20-minute drive from the beach and 30 minutes from Lisbon airport.
