THE LOCATION:
Offenbach am Main is a lively city in Hesse, located directly on the River Main and in close proximity to Frankfurt am Main. It combines urban flair with a multicultural atmosphere and a rich history. In addition to this Lili temple, the city impresses with a variety of cultural and architectural highlights. The Büsing Palace, a magnificent baroque building, and its park are popular places for events and walks. The Klingspor Museum, known for its book art and typography, also attracts art and literature enthusiasts.

Wilhelmsplatz in the heart of the city is a popular meeting place, especially on market days when the stalls are filled with regional and international delicacies. Offenbach also offers a relaxing riverside promenade along the Main, within walking distance of the Lili Temple, which is perfect for walks, bike rides or a visit to one of the many cafés.

The city is known for its cultural diversity and offers a lively gastronomic scene with culinary influences from all over the world. At the same time, Offenbach cultivates its traditions with events such as the Festival of Lights in Büsing Park or the „Mainuferlauf“.

Just a stone‘s throw away from the up-and-coming Frankfurt Ostend, the ECB and five minutes by bike to Frankfurt‘s Museumsufer, the Lili-Tempel is very well connected to the S-Bahn network to Frankfurt and Wiesbaden in the middle of the city and yet idyllically nestled in the countryside. The A3 and A661 motorways may be reached in just a few minutes, and Rhine-Main Airport is 18 minutes away.

Nestled in a historic park on the banks of the Main River near Frankfurt, the Lili Temple exudes timeless elegance and evokes the era of Goethe. Built in 1798 as a classicist bathing and garden pavilion by banker Friedrich Metzler, it served as a luxurious marble bath and elegant social space. The combination of raw natural stone and fine classical architecture gives the building a unique aesthetic. Surrounded by old trees, a pond, and romantic paths, the property feels like a refuge from a bygone era. Named after Goethe′s childhood sweetheart Lili Schönemann, the place tells a tender love story that gives the temple an almost magical aura. As an important cultural monument, the temple has been lovingly restored and is now considered an architectural gem and a living testimony to classical architecture. A place of history, beauty, and quiet longing—then as now.

The approximately 83 sq.m. living room impresses with its clear geometry, generous glass façade, and flowing transition to nature. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer spectacular views of the romantic garden and can be opened completely onto the terrace—ideal for stylish receptions or relaxed summer days. A cement floor and minimalist architecture create a tranquil setting for living, working, and entertaining. The kitchen, with Boffi furniture, Miele appliances, and a view of Lili Park, forms the heart of the house. A guest room with en suite bathroom, a functional rear entrance, and a sculptural staircase lead to the upper floor with two bedrooms, a dressing room, and an elegant bathroom. A light-flooded gallery connects the rooms and opens up the view to the Main River. Fine materials, understated design, and well-thought-out room sequences make this house a place of clarity, elegance, and inspiring openness.
